Put Back Together

Sorry for my absence from our beloved blog.  It’s been more than a little busy.

The news of the day, though, is that we finally have our house put back together after a long and patience-challenging six months of repairs, banks, and insurance claims.  I have a few details to wind up but basically everything is back to normal.  We celebrated last Sunday night with some champagne (and sparkling grape juice for the kids) and everyone’s has been markedly improved ever since.  As soon as I finish putting my office back together (moving the file cabinet back in, some other small furniture, getting paperwork filed, etc.) we should have the basement cleared out and everything in better shape than we started.  From here, it’s time to hit our first floor bathroom which is a rather embarrassing spectacle right now.  Add to that, I just noticed that the window in there that I replaced last year is leaking again so I may have to rip open the newly finished drywall and redo some things (namely, reseal the window and siding outside).  Ugh…owning an old home…

So that aside, family life has been pretty good.  With the mood improving and time inching us toward spring, we are optimistic that our lifestyle and mood is going to take a turn for the better.  Not a bad deal in financially woeful times (and we have plenty of those woes along with everyone else).  God continues to push us into where we know we need to be and we feel His hand at every turn.  From books we are reading to fellowship and preaching we are getting at church, the messages lately have really served to put us rightfully in our respective places.  Now I just hope that as this process continues, we can continue to be strong in sticking to it.

For now, I will leave it at that.  I hope to return soon to start up some more frequent and interesting posts.  Until then, look for us on Facebook (yes, I have succumbed to the social pressure of virtual fellowship…something I swore I would never do…).

Peace…
