Turning Points

Is anybody out there?  If so, I’m here to tell you things are changing.  I got a phone call today that led to a conversation that led to a realization that everything is changing.  My ex-wife is separating from her husband (probably ending in divorce) and I am once again thrust into the position of trying to pick up the pieces with my kids who are now yet again crushed at another dissolved marriage.

It’s hard to know what to think at a time like this.  I laugh at the ridiculousness of it all; I weep at the ramifications knowing that the kids are losing yet another portion of the thin stability that they know.  What do you say to something like this?  What do you do?  What will I say to them tomorrow when they come home?  I know the tears that they have shed as they found out from their mother.  I am haunted by them and will be every night when I lay down to sleep.  I am powerless to change anything or prevent them from the pain.  I can’t shield them from this.  How do you make sense of something like this?

I have to keep reminding myself that God is sovereign.  If He isn’t, I am so totally screwed.  All things work together for good for them that love God and are called according to His purpose.  I just wonder if any of this will ever get a little easier.  I hope my children know how much I love them.  I hope this does not teach them ill things of what marriage and relationships were intended to be in God’s economy.  I hope this ends well.

Is anybody out there?  If so, I could use your prayers.  An encouraging word.  Something.

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful…
