To Be Continued…

Well, I guess I’m back to the one-post-per-month routine again.  It certainly is anything but intentional; I’m just preoccupied.  That, work being rather busy, and my schedule being tight have left me with little time during the day to post anything.  That said, here we go…

So the election cycle seems to be in full swing and I am already seeing the obligatory neo-con fear-mongering from loved ones with good intentions.  John McCain, being the Republican candidate, must be supported at all costs over the Marxist leftist democrat who is going to remove the military and invite our enemies to come on in and take over.  No one seems all that interested in the list of grievances against McCain and still no one sees a problem with Christians supporting illegal war.  The bottom line, after all, is that we need to keep a Democrat from getting into the White House no matter what the cost.  Even if it means another four glorious years of fascist rule and foreign invasion.  Harsh?  Well, most would probably say so but I still think it is not an entirely exaggerated way to put it.

Folks, let’s be real.  We are hosed.  No matter which one of the political drones running for president actually makes it, we are destined for four more years of increased government, increased regulation, increased corporatization, increased bureaucratization, increased taxation, increased headaches, increased propaganda, and an increasing view of government as savior.  These are bleak times for any liberty-loving citizen of the U.S. and I fear it is only going to get worse.  So I am trying to pry my attention away from the three-ring circus and place it squarely back on what I can affect; my family and my community.  The rest is just sort of depressing.

What remains a mystery to me is how ordinarily clear-thinking and relatively intelligent people continue to support government antics that go against everything they (should) believe in.  They continue to go along with the prevailing neo-con mindset that in order to truly be America, we have to kick ass and take names.  We must first be concerned with saving face (as if there is much of a face to save anymore).  Somehow patriotism (nationalism) got mixed up with Christianity and God has once again been used as the springboard to justify all sorts of atrocities.  I know I would probably get called a whole host of pansy-related names if anyone actually read this blog, but I really don’t care that much.  I believe we are called to be thinking people and as long as this country, either culturally or politically, continues to go against its own rule of law and especially that of God Himself, I can not play along and pretend like it’s okay to have this “let’s kick some ass” mentality just because we are the big, bad USA.  So bring on the e-mails all you want.  I’m just going to ignore them and not vote for McCain this November.  But before you go calling me an Obama supporter, I’m not voting for him either.  I’m voting “no confidence” in this system and in the culture that carries it.  I will not be voting again and until there is another Ron Paul, you’ll be hard pressed to get me to set foot in a voting booth for any reason whatsoever.  I am going to concentrate on trying to come up with some more effective ways to speak to the prevailing culture instead of thinking that casting a vote for one of two dunderheads who will continue to steer this country into the gutter (as if a president should be steering anything in the first place) is ever going to make a lick of difference.

Ah, hopeful again…

I know, I sound like a very happy guy, don’t I?  Well, actually it just feels good to vent and in case anyone who reads this was still somehow not clear on where I stand, there you go.  I have more important things to do than to pay any more attention to this rat race.  My family needs me.  My hobbies have been sacrificed due to a host of issues playing themselves out in my day-to-day.  I love my wife more than ever and my kids are getting more and more interesting.  That is my life and passion right now so if you have political e-mails to pass on, keep them.  I don’t care anymore.  My emotional energy is being invested in far better places.

So the next four years will probably play out like the previous four and the previous four before that with too many people caring way too much about things that are way to little.  It’s all a continuation of the same old, same old so it’s time to divert my attention elsewhere.

Yeah right, like I am going to keep quiet about politics.  Oh well, it sounds nice for now.  I’m headed home.  I have a long bike ride ahead of me (saves $4 per gallon) and a beautiful family waiting.

Blessings…
